The Broome NBN fibre upgrade is underway. We'll look after yours.
NBN Co is replacing the copper network in Broome with full fibre, free of charge. Switch to Connext and we'll take care of the upgrade for you when fibre reaches your street.
Most homes in Broome, Cable Beach, Djugun and Bilingurr are on FTTN, where the last stretch to your home is an old copper line. Copper slows down over long distances and can drop out in wet weather. The upgrade replaces it with FTTP (fibre to the premises), which runs fibre all the way to your home, so it's faster and much more reliable.
Much faster downloads and uploads than copper.
Not affected by rain or ageing lines.
NBN Co pays for the install, and we don't charge to manage it.
Work is already underway. NBN Co contractors are rolling out fibre across Broome street by street through 2026 and 2027.

Common questions
Is the Broome fibre upgrade free?
Yes. NBN Co pays for the fibre install. With Connext you just pay your monthly plan. There's no activation fee and we don't charge to manage the upgrade.
Which parts of Broome are getting fibre?
NBN Co is upgrading copper (FTTN) connections across Broome, including Cable Beach, Djugun, Bilingurr, Roebuck, Minyirr and the town centre. Not every address has a date yet, so use the address check above to see yours.
What is the difference between FTTN and FTTP?
FTTN (fibre to the node) runs fibre to a cabinet in your street, then uses a copper line to reach your home. FTTP (fibre to the premises) runs fibre all the way to your home, which is faster and more reliable.
What if fibre isn't available at my address yet?
You can still sign up now on your current connection. We'll keep checking your address and get in touch when fibre is ready.
Will my price go up on fibre?
No. Your price only changes if you choose a faster plan.
Do I need a new modem?
Possibly. Some older modems can't handle fibre speeds. We'll check yours and let you know if it needs replacing.
Will my internet be down during the switch?
Usually only for a short time while the technician connects the fibre.
